Sieben Knöpfe
Description
Having grown up in Tehran, Shirin Zareh studied philosophy and singing in Germany, then married into Iran before finally deciding to settle in Berlin. With humor and acumen, she describes in her book the oscillation between worlds and how she carves out her own identity as a human being and a woman from this in-between. Her lively, fairytale-like stories are captivating from beginning to end, and her sense of mysticism and reading the signs is inspiring without being preachy. Where the different vibrational signatures of her two countries of origin overlap, they condense into knots and become buttons. And each of these buttons stands for the essence of an autobiographical experience, which sometimes contains an impulse for transformation.
