Mechthild Henneke

Mechthild Henneke, born in Salzkotten, Westphalia, studied political science and attended the Henri Nannen School of Journalism in Hamburg. When the Balkan wars began, she reported intensively on the refugee crisis for the BERLINER ZEITUNG. The NATO mission in Kosovo in 1999 marked a turning point for her. She went with  to Albania an aid organization and later to Kosovo. The impressions of the conflict did not let her go. From 2001, she worked for the United Nations Mission in Kosovo for seven years. Back in Germany, she wrote the novel for whichinspired by the experiences of a Kosovar Albanian friend. Today she lives and works as a freelance author and journalist in Berlin.
