"Great art on a small surface" dedicated to Tom Drake Bennett on his 70th birthday.

For over 35 years, painter Tom Drake Bennett has been sending out small, collaged, colorful New Year's greetings, about 2-3 mm thick and about 10.4 x 14.5 cm in size, painted on cardboard, to his friends and collectors - this year to over 100 addressees - at the beginning of each new year. In the beginning, the "art cards" were directly marked with the address, sender, stamp and the postmark. Today they are sent in an envelope for safety, as each card is a valuable unique specimen. These small boards form their own series of works and are personal testimony to the contact and exchange with friends. With his "Art Cards", Tom Drake Bennet continues the tradition of the "artist's postcard", as it had become a popular form of communication among artists at the beginning of the 20th century. "Arte Postale - Bilderbriefe, Künstlerpostkarten, Mail Art," for example, was the title of an exhibition at the Akademie der Künste Berlin in 2013.

In this book, more than 80 works from the last decades until the year 2022 are shown. Different compositions, different painterly and collaged surface designs convince the viewer of the diversity and the development of this interesting "panel work" in the oeuvre of Tom Drake Bennett.
