Die Facetten des Prinzen Jussuf
Description
Die Facetten des Prinzen Jussuf – Ein Lesebuch über Else Lasker-Schüler
Exemplary fate. Unique work.
Think of a miracle, is one of the quotes of the painting poet Else Lasker-Schüler. Indeed, it borders on a miracle that this versatile woman, who died in Jerusalem in 1945, still fascinates composers, playwrights, visual artists, men and women, as well as the elderly and the young. She called herself, among others, Prince of Thebes, Tino of Baghdad, Malik, Jussuf, Indian or Abigail and hated the word "modern". Timeless was the painter-poet, who has been portrayed and translated in novels, plays, operas and numerous books in various languages. But her coordinate system is actually incomprehensible. That is why a "reading book" is presented here, in a mixture of journalistic prose and a selection of her poems and drawings as an approach to a "performer" who divides opinions about her to this day and who was at the same time a visionary.
