Mati Shemoelof
Mati Shemoelof is a writer, poet and curator. Born and raised in Haifa, Israel, he now lives and works in Germany. He has published a total of twelve books in both Israel and Germany, including eight volumes of poetry. His work is diverse. It includes fiction, poetry, theatre plays, articles, texts for art exhibitions, short stories and much more. He developed the radio play ‘Das künftige Ufer’ (2018) for WDR. He is the recipient of a special grant from the Berlin Senate (2021) to curate a four-day Arab-Jewish festival on the vision for a Middle East Union. This year (2024) he has received a grant from the German Literature Fund to write his first book in German: ‘Yiddish Sounds, German Words’.
