Jürgen Rennert

Jürgen Rennert, born on March 12, 1943 in Berlin-Neukölln. Grew up with his grandmother in West Berlin, moved to his parents in the GDR in 1953; 1959-62 trained as a typesetter; then assistant nurse in a hospital; 1964-75 advertising editor at the publishing house Volk & Welt, interrupted by a year and a half of alternative military service as a construction soldier; 1975 to October 1990 freelance as a lyricist, essayist, re-poet and translator. In 1987, co-founder and co-organizer of the Days of Yiddish Culture in East Berlin, directed by Jalda Rebling. Until the liquidation of the "Kunstdienst der Evangelischen Kirche" (Art Service of the Protestant Church), located in the Berlin Cathedral since 1990, in 2005: permanent employee as program planner, public relations officer and deputy director.- 2014 Relocation to Putlitz. Honors: Heinrich Heine Prize in 1971 and honorary award of the German Schiller Foundation in 1991.
