Edwin Dickman
Edwin Dickman was born Buckley on September 5, 1929 in Chicago. After growing up in New York during the Great Depression and briefly working as a student and journalist, he was drafted into the military in 1953. He served in the US Navy for two years, in a position he didn't like but which allowed him to travel all over Europe. In 1957 Edwin left the United States for Scotland to pursue a career as a painter. After studying for a year at the Royal Academy of Edinburgh, he moved to Berlin in 1959 to begin a master's degree at the Berlin Academy of Fine Arts with Professor Fritsch. Since then, Edwin has established himself as an artist in Berlin.
